• Telkom as the owner of capacity on SAT-3 and SAFE submarine cable systems has a fully meshed international IP Network backbone using both the SAT 3 and SAFE routes. The SAFE route is the service restoration path, which has a permanent physical connection. If a failure is experienced on the SAT 3 cable, the IP traffic, layer 3 is switched without any service interruption on the SAFE restoration route, and re-routed again upon service restoration of the SAT 3 Cable. As with the SAT 3 cable the different classes of service are prioritized over the SAFE cable. This IP Network is diversely interconnected with reputable global service providersextending the service coverage to able seamless connectivity to more than 100 countries, which includes more than 1000 cities.
• Seamless international connectivity is provided by the integration of various global service providers networks.
• A one-stop solution is offered where Telkom will do single end ordering (SEO), Single end Single end billing (SEB) and Single end Fault management (SEF).
• End-to-end router maintenance is facilitated via Telkom for the maintenance of the South African based routers through the Telkom nationwide Cisco support. Telkom can also arrange maintenance of routers in foreign countries on behalf of the customers.
• Protection against router end-of-life and obsolescence is provided in cases where Telkom take over the risk of the router capital expenditure. This applies to rented Telkom routers only. Through Network Management Telkom takes care of the customers network, letting the customer take care of its core business .
